WEBS Centre
Windsor-Essex Black Seniors Centre
The Windsor-Essex Black Seniors Centre offers diverse activities and support for seniors of African descent in Windsor. The centre began operations in April 2024 and serves as a vibrant community hub for cultural engagement, health and wellness, and social connection.
The centre serves seniors of African descent, many of whom are new to Canada and may have limited English proficiency. Interpreter services are provided to aid integration into the community, ensuring all members feel welcome and supported.
Membership
Our membership is diverse, including seniors from Eritrea, South Sudan, Liberia, Uganda, Jamaica, Trinidad, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and many more African and Caribbean nations.
Annual Membership Fee: $20
Activities
The WEBS Centre offers a rich variety of activities designed to promote health, wellness, and social connection while celebrating and honoring the rich cultural heritage of it’s members.Â

Peer sharing
Communal Dining
Our communal dining features dishes from members’ cultural backgrounds, including injera, pounded yam, jerk chicken, and more.
Indoor Gardening
The centre has a Cangrow tower for soilless indoor planting of herbs and vegetables, connecting members to their agricultural traditions.
Arts and Media
We recently hosted local film producers for short drama sketches with seniors, providing opportunities for creative expression and storytelling.
Leadership
The centre is led by Mrs. Abiola Afolabi, and supported by dedicated senior volunteers who bring energy and commitment to the program.
